The 3rd Pandayang Lino Brocka Political Film and New Media Festival successfully launched it’s opening program yesterday, August 10, 2011. The launch started with a forum on the “Filipinization of Mass Media” with Dean Roland Tolentino of University of the Philippine’s College of Mass Communications and Prof. Danilo Arao, UP’s Assistant Vice President for Public Affairs.
Screening of the selected films for the festival started in the afternoon and the special citations were awarded and a short tribute to Lino Brocka was given in the evening. The following are the winners:

The evening ended with Lino Brocka’s film Dung-aw, a story about the life of Filipina heroine Gabriela Silang.
A seminar on script writing will be conducted on the second day of the festival and film screening on the afternoon.
After the launch of the 3rd Pandayang Lino Brocka, the festival will be brought to other schools, urban poor communities, workplaces and peasant communities to reach a wider audience to inspire and motivate more film makers to create artistic, truthful and relevant films.
