Gerry Jumawan is a public high school teacher and founder/ adviser of Teatro Oktubre Nueve of Lagro High School. His Tolome Reponsable won Grand Prize in Mulat Pinoy Pop-I Video contest. His two One-Minute short film became finalists: his “Takbo” (The Runner) in 2010 Aarau One – Minute Short film in Switzerland and his “Konsiyerto ng Karapatan” (Concert of Rights) in 2010 Crotia One-Minute Short film festival in Crotia. His short film produced and acted “Hulagway, won him Best Actor and Special Jury Award in 2nd Pambujan Pelikula Para sa Publiko (Samar), in-competition in 1st Doi Saket International Short Film (Thailand) and in Humanity Explored Online Filmfest of Culture Unplugged based in India. His latest produced entitled Ang Kamot Nga Nagluwas (The Hand That Saved) won Best Film, Best Cinematography at Storyline at 5th Largabista Filmfest (U.P. Tacloban), and included as Official Selection in Patras International Short Film Festival (Greece), in October 1-8, 2011. He organized the Hiraya Bahandi Pestibal ng mga Maikling Pelikula ng Kabataan at Lagro High School last year which participated by public high school students.
